Robert Jones is a Dubai-based coffee business strategist with two decades of direct operational experience across the UAE and GCC coffee economy. He is the founder and principal of Authority.Coffee — the region's specialist coffee business advisory platform — and is widely recognised as one of the most credentialled and connected operators in the GCC specialty coffee industry.
Over 15 years, Robert built one of the UAE and GCC's most recognised specialty coffee businesses from an early-stage importer into a fully integrated, crop-to-cup operation spanning 15+ territories. The business delivered a sustained 10-year revenue CAGR of 19% — including 16% net customer growth during COVID — and operated across eight commercial channels: HORECA, retail grocery, office coffee, franchise, private label, e-commerce, on-the-go, and international.
Under Robert's leadership as Group Managing Director, the business commissioned and expanded a multi-certified roastery facility in Jebel Ali from zero to 350 tonnes per month capacity across four phases between 2008 and 2017 — achieving ISO22000, HACCP, UTZ, BRC, and Halal certification. The operation became the first specialty roaster in the UAE to bring an automated Nespresso-compatible capsule line to market in 2012, running at 180 million capsules per year. Green bean sourcing spanned 20+ origin countries with direct farmer and trader relationships across Central and South America, Africa, and Asia.
Robert built and managed C-suite relationships with 800+ clients including ADNOC, ENOC, Emaar, Etihad Airways, Emirates Flight Catering, Marriott, Accor Hotels, Fairmont, Raffles, Carrefour, Spinneys, Caribou Coffee, Krispy Kreme, Jones The Grocer, and Americana. He developed the franchise programme from inception in 2008, project managing 40+ outlet builds across the GCC and Asia including an exclusive branded location at Ain Dubai — the world's largest observation wheel. He also trained 10 Q-graders — 10 of only 16 certified in the entire GCC — and built a team of 250+ people across 25+ nationalities with consistently low staff turnover.
Robert led all corporate finance negotiations across banks and structured facilities — including sourcing the first-in-market promissory note funding from Switzerland and export finance facilities. He oversaw Big 4 vendor commercial due diligence (VCDD) processes for fundraising and acquisition mandates, building rolling 5-year plans, annual budgets, monthly KPIs, cash flow models, debtor aged analysis, and a proprietary ROI-based contract approval model.
Since 2022, Robert has operated across multiple executive and non-executive capacities. He has served as CEO and Managing Director on fixed-term interim mandates for significant UAE F&B businesses, conducted strategic consulting for coffee roasteries and F&B operators across market entry, audit, and turnaround, invested in and supported early-stage ventures across food & beverage and technology, and served as a Non-Executive Director for a UK healthcare group (3 hospitals, a college, and 16 care homes) — leading the exit process which completed above target valuation in Q4 2021.
He co-founded a B2B SaaS accounts receivable platform for UAE SMEs, signing a distribution agreement with a major bank targeting 15,000 clients. He has also served as a Non-Executive Director and board member for a UAE renewable energy pioneer in the methane-to-hydrogen/graphene sector, overseeing Audit and Remuneration Committees.
Robert founded Authority.Coffee in 2026 to address a gap he had observed across two decades operating in the GCC coffee market: the absence of specialist, investment-grade advisory at the intersection of operational expertise and capital intelligence. As the market enters its second maturity phase — characterised by saturation, margin compression, and increasing capital deployment — the need for this specific combination of capabilities has never been more acute.
Authority.Coffee works with coffee operators seeking strategic rigour to sustain growth, investors and family offices deploying capital into the coffee sector, and developers and hospitality groups integrating coffee into premium environments across the UAE and GCC.
"I don't advise from the outside. I advise from deep inside the engine — and that difference is everything when capital is at stake."
