1. Terms of Service

1.1 Acceptance of Terms

By accessing, browsing, or using the Authority.Coffee Careers platform ("the Platform"), including any associated websites, applications, tools, or services operated at authority.coffee, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, you must stop using the Platform immediately.

By creating an account, submitting a job application, posting a vacancy, or otherwise interacting with the Platform, you enter into a binding agreement with Authority.Coffee.

1.2 About the Platform

Authority.Coffee Careers is a job board and talent platform that connects coffee industry professionals (candidates) with hospitality and food-and-beverage employers across the United Arab Emirates and the wider Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The Platform is owned and operated by Authority.Coffee, a Dubai-licensed business based in the United Arab Emirates.

The Platform also provides market intelligence, advisory content, analytical tools, and related recruitment services.

1.3 Eligibility

To use the Platform, you must be at least 18 years of age and legally capable of entering into binding agreements under the laws of your jurisdiction. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organisation, you represent and warrant that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

1.4 Account Registration and Responsibilities

Certain features of the Platform require you to create an account. When doing so, you agree to:

• Provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and keep it up to date.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of your login credentials.
• Accept responsibility for all activity that occurs under your account.
• Notify us immediately at hello@authority.coffee if you become aware of any unauthorised use of your account.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that contain false or misleading information.

1.5 Payment Terms

The Platform offers both free and paid tiers for employers and candidates.

• Free tier: No payment is required for the free tier. Free accounts provide access to limited features as described on our Pricing page.
• Subscription billing: Paid subscriptions are billed on a monthly or annual basis via Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you also agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.
• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel before the next billing date.
• Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. Active job listings will remain live until the end of that period.
• Refunds — Annual plans: Annual subscriptions are eligible for a prorated refund calculated to the nearest full calendar month remaining from the date of cancellation request, excluding any fees already charged for the current billing period. Refund requests must be submitted to hello@authority.coffee.
• Refunds — Monthly plans: Monthly subscriptions are not eligible for refunds for partial months. No refund is issued for the current billing month upon cancellation.
• Price changes: Authority.Coffee reserves the right to modify pricing, features, or service tiers. We will provide at least thirty (30) days' written notice before any price increase takes effect.
• Payment failure: If a payment fails, we will attempt up to three (3) retry attempts within five (5) business days. If all retries fail, your account will be downgraded to the free tier until a valid payment method is provided.
• Reveal credits: Purchased reveal credits are non-refundable and expire at the end of the billing period in which they were purchased. Unused credits do not roll over.

1.5a Talent Marketplace and Reveals

The Platform includes a Talent Marketplace where employers can browse anonymised candidate profiles and, subject to their subscription plan, reveal candidate contact details under the following terms:

• Candidate profiles displayed in the Talent Marketplace are anonymised by default. No name, email address, phone number, or CV is visible until a reveal is performed.
• Employers on paid plans receive a monthly allocation of reveals based on their subscription tier, as described on our Plans page. Reveals reset at the start of each billing cycle and do not carry over to the following month.
• A reveal discloses the candidate's name and contact details (email address and/or phone number) to the employer for recruitment purposes only.
• When a candidate creates an account and completes their profile, they consent to being discoverable in the Talent Marketplace.
• Candidates may opt out of the Talent Marketplace at any time via their profile settings. Opting out removes their profile from employer search results but does not affect existing applications or reveals already performed.
• Employers who reveal candidate details must use them solely for recruitment purposes and must comply with section 1.8 (Employer Obligations) of these terms.
• Misuse of revealed candidate data — including but not limited to unsolicited marketing, selling data, sharing with third parties, or contacting candidates about roles unrelated to the role for which they were discovered — will result in immediate account termination without refund.

1.6 Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Platform to:

• Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information, including fabricated qualifications, work history, or job listings.
• Engage in any activity that is unlawful under UAE law or the laws of your jurisdiction.
• Distribute spam, malware, or any unsolicited communications through the Platform.
• Attempt to scrape, harvest, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Platform's operation, databases, or security measures.
• Impersonate another person, entity, or Authority.Coffee representative.
• Use the Platform for any purpose other than genuine recruitment or job-seeking activities.
• Collect or store personal data of other users beyond what is necessary for legitimate recruitment purposes.

1.7 Candidate Obligations

As a candidate using the Platform, you agree to:

• Represent your qualifications, experience, certifications, and right-to-work status honestly and accurately.
• Keep your profile and CV up to date.
• Understand and accept that when you apply for a job through the Platform, your profile information (including your name, contact details, CV, work history, qualifications, and any other information in your candidate profile) will be shared with the employer who posted that vacancy. This is a core function of the Platform and is necessary to facilitate the recruitment process.
• Respond to employer communications in a timely and professional manner.

1.8 Employer Obligations and Data Handling

As an employer using the Platform, you agree to:

• Ensure all job listings are genuine, accurately described, and comply with UAE labour law (Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021) and the labour laws of any GCC jurisdiction where the role is located.
• Not discriminate unlawfully in job postings or hiring decisions on the basis of nationality, gender, religion, age, disability, or any other protected characteristic under applicable law.
• Post only roles that genuinely exist and for which you have current or anticipated hiring need. Listings used for data collection, market research, or purposes other than genuine recruitment are prohibited.
• Ensure all advertised salaries, benefits, and role descriptions are accurate and not materially misleading.
• Use candidate data received through the Platform — whether through job applications or Talent Marketplace reveals — solely for the purpose of evaluating candidates for the specific role(s) for which that data was obtained.
• Employers who reveal candidate details must use them solely for legitimate recruitment purposes and must not contact candidates for any purpose unrelated to recruitment.
• Not share, sell, or redistribute candidate data received through the Platform to any third party without the candidate's explicit written consent.
• Implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect candidate personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
• Delete or securely anonymise candidate personal data if the candidate is not hired and has not given separate consent for their data to be retained, within ninety (90) days of the conclusion of the relevant recruitment process.
• Comply with all applicable data protection laws, including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, "PDPL").
• Respond to candidate requests to access, correct, or delete their personal data in accordance with applicable law.

By accepting these Terms of Service and the Authority.Coffee Privacy Policy, employers acknowledge that they act as independent data controllers for any candidate personal data received through the Platform and accept the data handling obligations set out in these terms and in section 2.5a of the Privacy Policy. This acceptance constitutes a binding data sharing arrangement between the employer and Authority.Coffee for the purposes of the UAE PDPL.

Authority.Coffee reserves the right to suspend or remove employers who violate these obligations, without prior notice and without refund.

1.8a UAE Labour Law Compliance

Employers advertising positions based in the United Arab Emirates must comply with the following:

• All job postings must comply with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 33 of 2021 (the UAE Labour Law) and its executive regulations.
• Job listings must not require candidates to pay recruitment fees. Charging candidates recruitment fees is prohibited under UAE law.
• Employers must comply with the requirements of the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) for all UAE-based positions, including work permit and visa sponsorship obligations.
• Employers offering positions in the UAE must ensure compliance with the Wage Protection System (WPS) for salary payments.
• Roles tagged as Emiratisation-eligible must genuinely qualify under the UAE nationalisation programme. Misrepresenting a role's Emiratisation eligibility is a violation of these terms.
• Authority.Coffee reserves the right to remove, without notice, any job listing that violates UAE labour law or the regulations listed above.

1.8b GCC Jurisdiction Acknowledgement

The Platform serves employers and candidates across the GCC region, including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. While these Terms of Service are governed by UAE law, employers operating in other GCC jurisdictions remain independently responsible for compliance with the labour laws, data protection regulations, and employment regulations of those jurisdictions. Authority.Coffee makes no representation that compliance with UAE law constitutes compliance with the laws of other GCC states.

1.9 Intellectual Property

All content on the Platform, including but not limited to text, design, graphics, logos, tools, reports, articles, algorithms, and branding, is the intellectual property of Authority.Coffee unless otherwise stated. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, create derivative works from, or republish any content without prior written permission from Authority.Coffee.

Content you submit to the Platform (such as your CV, profile information, or job listings) remains your property. By submitting content, you grant Authority.Coffee a non-exclusive licence to use and display that content solely as necessary to operate the Platform and provide its services to you. Identifiable personal data will only be shared as described in the Privacy Policy. Authority.Coffee may use fully anonymised, aggregated data derived from Platform content for market research, analytics, and industry reporting.

1.10 Limitation of Liability

The Platform is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable UAE law:

• Authority.Coffee makes no warranties, express or implied, regarding the Platform's availability, accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
• Authority.Coffee shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Platform.
• Authority.Coffee does not guarantee employment outcomes and is not a party to any employment contract between candidates and employers.
• Authority.Coffee is not responsible for the accuracy of information provided by other users, the conduct of employers or candidates, or the outcome of any hiring process facilitated through the Platform.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded by applicable UAE law.

1.11 Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account, without prior notice, if you violate these Terms of Service, engage in fraudulent activity, or misuse the Platform. Upon termination, your right to access the Platform ceases immediately.

You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at hello@authority.coffee or through the account settings page. Upon account deletion, we will process the removal of your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy below.

1.12 Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Dubai, UAE.

Before initiating formal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt to resolve any dispute through good-faith negotiation for a period of not less than thirty (30) days.

1.13 Modifications to Terms

Authority.Coffee reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Service at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users or through a prominent notice on the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

1.14 Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Authority.Coffee and its service providers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in connection with:

• Your violation of these Terms of Service.
• Your use of the Platform or any content you submit to the Platform.
• Any breach of your representations or warranties set out in these terms.

Employers specifically indemnify Authority.Coffee against any claims, regulatory actions, fines, or legal proceedings arising from:

• The content or accuracy of any job listing posted by the employer.
• The employer's hiring practices, employment decisions, or treatment of candidates contacted through the Platform.
• Any unlawful processing, unauthorised disclosure, sharing, or misuse of candidate personal data obtained through the Platform, including revealed contact details.
• Any violation of UAE labour law, UAE PDPL, or the labour or data protection laws of any GCC jurisdiction applicable to the employer.
• Any claim brought by a candidate arising from the employer's conduct following a Platform-facilitated introduction.

This indemnification obligation survives termination of your account or these Terms of Service.

1.15 Force Majeure

Neither party shall be liable for any failure or delay in performing its obligations under these terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond that party's reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, acts of government, pandemic, internet or telecommunications outages, power failures, cyberattacks, or the failure of third-party service providers.

1.16 Severability

If any provision of these Terms of Service is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed if modification is not possible, and the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

1.17 Entire Agreement

These Terms of Service, together with the Privacy Policy and any applicable subscription terms presented at the time of purchase, constitute the entire agreement between you and Authority.Coffee regarding your use of the Platform, and supersede all prior or contemporaneous agreements, representations, warranties, and understandings, whether written, oral, or implied.

2. Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Authority.Coffee collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use the Authority.Coffee Careers platform. This policy is designed to comply with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021, and its implementing regulations.

2.1 Data Controller

The data controller responsible for your personal data is:

2.2 Personal Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data depending on how you interact with the Platform:

• Account information: Full name, email address, phone number, and encrypted password.
• Candidate profile data: CV/resume, experience (job title, company, dates), skills, certifications, educational background, salary expectations, job preferences, location, nationality, visa status, work history, and professional summary.
• Employer data: Company name, trade licence number, contact person details, job posting content, company description, and billing information for paid plans.
• Application data: Records of which jobs you have applied to, and application status history.
• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, search filters applied, and session duration. Search queries entered into the Talent search are captured by Google Analytics as part of page URLs but are not stored in our own database.
• Technical data: IP address and browser User-Agent string, stored for security, rate-limiting, and session management purposes. Operating system and device type are derived from the User-Agent string but not stored as separate fields. Referral source is collected via Google Analytics post-consent only.

Some of the personal data we collect — including nationality, visa status, and information that may be used to infer ethnic or cultural background — may constitute sensitive personal data under the UAE PDPL. We apply a higher standard of care to such data, including obtaining explicit consent and limiting its use to the specific purposes for which it was collected.

2.3 How We Use Your Data (Purposes of Processing)

We process your personal data for the following purposes:

• Facilitating applications: To transmit your profile and application data to employers when you apply for a job through the Platform.
• Talent Marketplace: To allow employers to discover and reveal anonymised candidate profiles in accordance with the terms set out in section 1.5a.
• Account management: To create and manage your account, authenticate your identity, and provide customer support.
• Communication: To send transactional notifications (application confirmations, messages from employers or candidates, account updates) and occasional platform news.
• Platform improvement: To analyse how the Platform is used, identify issues, and develop new features.
• Market research and analytics: To produce aggregated, anonymised market intelligence and industry reports. Any market research using Platform data will be fully anonymised so that no individual can be identified from published results.
• Legal and regulatory compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, or legal processes, and to protect our rights and the rights of our users.
• Payment processing: To process subscription payments for paid employer accounts.

2.4 Legal Basis for Processing

Under the UAE PDPL, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

• Consent: By creating an account and using the Platform, you consent to the collection and processing of your personal data as described in this Privacy Policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us or deleting your account, though this may affect your ability to use certain features of the Platform.
• Performance of a contract: Processing is necessary to provide the services you have requested, including facilitating applications and managing your account.
• Legitimate interest: We have a legitimate interest in improving the Platform, preventing fraud, ensuring security, and producing anonymised market research that benefits the coffee industry and its workforce.
• Legal obligation: We may process data where required to comply with UAE law or respond to lawful requests from authorities.

2.5 Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. This is a firm commitment and is not subject to change.

We share personal data only in the following limited circumstances:

• With employers (when you apply): When you submit an application, your candidate profile information is shared with the employer who posted that vacancy. This sharing is necessary for the recruitment process and is a core function of the Platform. By submitting an application, you explicitly consent to this disclosure.
• With employers (Talent Marketplace reveals): Employers on paid plans may reveal your contact details without you having submitted a specific application. By creating a profile and appearing in the Talent Marketplace, you consent to this possibility. You may opt out at any time through your profile settings.
• With candidates (employer profiles): When an employer posts a job, relevant company information is shared with candidates to facilitate informed decision-making.
• Service providers (data processors): We use a limited number of third-party services that process data on our behalf, under appropriate data processing agreements. These include:
  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing for employer subscription billing only. Stripe is PCI-DSS Level 1 certified; card details are transmitted directly to Stripe via TLS and are never seen or stored by Authority.Coffee. Candidates do not process any payment.
  • Anthropic — AI processing for the advisory chat widget and automated trade-licence document verification.
  • Google Analytics (GA4) — anonymised usage analytics, gated behind cookie consent.
  • SMTP email providers — transactional email delivery (over TLS).
• Legal requirements: We may disclose personal data if required to do so by law, regulation, court order, or other legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Authority.Coffee, our users, or the public.
• Anonymised data: We may share aggregated, anonymised data (from which no individual can be identified) with third parties for market research, industry reporting, or analytical purposes.

2.5a Employer Data Processing Obligations

Employers who access candidate personal data through the Platform — whether through job applications or Talent Marketplace reveals — act as independent data controllers for that data and are subject to the following obligations:

• Employers must process candidate personal data in compliance with the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and any other applicable data protection legislation in the jurisdictions in which they operate.
• Employers must use candidate personal data only for the specific recruitment purpose for which it was obtained, and must not process it for secondary purposes without separate explicit consent.
• Employers must not retain candidate personal data longer than is necessary for the relevant recruitment process. Where a candidate is not hired and has not given separate consent for data retention, employers must securely delete or anonymise the data within ninety (90) days of the conclusion of the recruitment process.
• Employers must implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect candidate personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.
• Employers must not share, sell, or redistribute candidate personal data to any third party without the candidate's explicit written consent.
• Employers must be able to respond to candidate data access, rectification, or deletion requests, and must cooperate with Authority.Coffee if such requests are received via the Platform.

By accepting these Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy, employers acknowledge these obligations and agree to be bound by them. Authority.Coffee is not responsible for how employers process, store, or secure candidate personal data after it has been shared through the Platform.

2.6 International Data Transfers

Personal data collected through the Platform is hosted on servers operated by IONOS/Fasthosts in the United Kingdom. The transfer of personal data from the UAE to the United Kingdom is performed in accordance with the UAE PDPL through appropriate safeguards, including the UK's adequacy status under GDPR and contractual data protection terms with our hosting provider.

Additionally, Google Analytics (GA4) and Stripe process certain data outside the UAE as described in section 2.5. Google Analytics data is anonymised and aggregated. Stripe processes employer payment data only and does not handle candidate personal data. Contractual safeguards consistent with the UAE PDPL are in place for both providers.

2.7 Data Retention

• Active accounts: Your data is retained for as long as your account remains active.
• Deleted accounts: If you delete your account, we will remove or anonymise your personal data within thirty (30) days, except where we are required by law to retain certain records (for example, financial transaction records may be retained for up to five years as required by UAE commercial law).
• Application records: Records of job applications may be retained for up to twelve (12) months after the application date for audit and dispute-resolution purposes, after which they will be anonymised or deleted.
• Security and session logs: IP addresses and browser User-Agent strings collected for security, rate-limiting, and session management purposes are retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil those purposes and are then deleted or anonymised.
• Anonymised data: Fully anonymised data (from which individuals cannot be identified) may be retained indefinitely for research and analytical purposes.

2.8 Data Security

We implement the following technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data:

• TLS/SSL encryption for all data in transit — HTTPS enforced site-wide via 301 redirect, certificate issued by Sectigo
• Bcrypt password hashing — passwords are never stored, logged, or transmitted in plain text
• IP-bound session tokens with automatic expiry, CSRF protection, and rate-limited authentication
• CV files stored at the filesystem level, served only through authenticated endpoints and never exposed via direct URL
• Payment processing handled by Stripe, Inc. (PCI-DSS Level 1 certified) — card details are transmitted directly to Stripe via TLS and are never seen or stored by Authority.Coffee
• Authentication emails sent via SMTP over TLS
• Regular automated backups and restricted database access via SSH-tunnelled credentials with principle-of-least-privilege database roles
• Access controls limiting who within Authority.Coffee can access personal data

While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a personal data breach likely to result in high risk to your rights, we will notify affected individuals and the UAE Data Office within seventy-two (72) hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by the UAE PDPL.

2.9 Data Protection Impact Assessments

Authority.Coffee conducts Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) before undertaking processing activities that are likely to result in a high risk to the rights and privacy of data subjects, in accordance with Article 21 of the UAE PDPL. DPIAs will be conducted for any new processing activities involving large-scale processing of sensitive personal data, significant automated processing, or new technologies that materially change how personal data is handled.

2.10 Your Rights Under the UAE PDPL

Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

• Right of access: You may request confirmation of whether we process your personal data and obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Right to erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data where it is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or where you withdraw consent.
• Right to restrict processing: You may request that we limit processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.
• Right to data portability: You may receive your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller.
• Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interest.
• Right to withdraw consent: You may withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at data@authority.coffee. We will respond within thirty (30) days. If we are unable to comply, we will explain the reasons. If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UAE Data Office.

You may permanently delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account. This action is immediate and cannot be reversed.

2.11 Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

• Essential cookies: Required for the Platform to function, including session management and user authentication. These cannot be disabled.
• Analytics cookies: We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how the Platform is used. Google Analytics data is aggregated and does not personally identify individual users. Google Analytics may set its own cookies; please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for details.

A cookie consent notice is displayed on your first visit to the Platform. You can manage or disable non-essential cookies through that notice or through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent you from using the Platform.

We use Google Analytics 4 via the Osano consent manager. Cookies are set only after you opt in via the cookie consent banner.

2.12 Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete that data promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at hello@authority.coffee.

2.13 Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or Platform functionality. Material changes will be communicated to registered users via email or through a prominent notice on the Platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this document indicates the most recent revision.

3. Disclaimer

3.1 Advisory and Market Content

All content published on Authority.Coffee -- including market reports, articles, intelligence briefings, advisory commentary, the Authority Index, and any analysis of the GCC coffee market -- represents the opinion of the author and Authority.Coffee. This content is provided for informational and educational purposes only.

3.2 Not Professional Advice

Nothing on this website constitutes financial advice, investment advice, legal advice, or any other form of professional advice. You should consult qualified professional advisors before making any financial, investment, or legal decisions based on information found on this website.

3.3 No Guarantee of Accuracy

While we make reasonable efforts to ensure that information published on Authority.Coffee is accurate and current, we make no representations or warranties about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, or suitability of any information, analysis, or opinion. Market data, projections, and estimates may not reflect current conditions at the time of reading.

3.4 Recruitment Disclaimer
